Whether or not you agree with the involvement of our military around the world, the support of our troops is necessary. It is not the soldier who decides where to go, they take orders. They go where they are needed and where they are asked to go. It is a difficult life. In addition to risking their life, they are often separated from their families for months on end. They give up the comforts of Saturday afternoon football games, microwave popcorn, and a nice fireplace in exchange for tents in the middle of the desert.
It is fitting we dedicate a day during the year to remember those brave men and women who truly understand what it means to be called to duty.
What are your thoughts on Veteran’s Day? What ways can you personally honor our veterans and current military members? What do you think life would be like in the armed services today?
Veteran's Day is very important for our country. We need to respect and honor those who go and sacrifice so many things to protect us. These people are so brave to do that, they even risk their lives sometimes. Because of this, we should make sure to honor veterans. We can do this by going to the Veteran's Day Parade or by thanking people who have served. My swim team is doing 22 push-ups during dry land for the month of November to honor veterans. I don't know much about the armed services, but it would probably be hard and rigorous, especially if you have to go overseas. I'd imagine it would be very stressful and nerve racking as well.
ReplyDeleteI believe Veterans Day is extremely important. We need to remember those who have died for our country. To honor the veterans that have died and the ones that are in our service now I serve at the Veterans breakfast at the Warhawk Museum. I bus table and feed people. A lot of retired veterans come and it makes you feel very good afterwards. I think that being in the armed forces not just today but at any time would be so nerve racking. It is almost unthinkable how they feel each and everyday. At this time being in the armed service would be very hard. There is so much violence in the world that you would be stressed for your life daily. This is why I believe that Veterans Day is so important to celebrate and remember.

I think that we should honor Veterans more and the soldiers more.I think this because my uncle was a soldier and died of brain problems.I honor the veterans by helping them at the Friendship Feast. I think that living in the Armed Forces today is very difficult. Why I think this is because of all of the terror groups and attacks on the military.This day should never be forgotten and always celebrated.
ReplyDeleteVeterans Day to me is something that should always be around, something that we need to make sure we know why we celebrate this holiday, and something where we need to show people how they can give back to people that help protect our country. Some ways we can personally honor our Veterans is by visiting them or thanking them for their service. This could be done by a simple handshake and a verbal "thanks". Another way we can thank them is by writing them a letter telling them how much they mean to us. In the armed services today I think that life would be pretty tough. If I was put in the military I think that I would need a lot of will power to be able to even make it through training.

ReplyDeleteVeterans Day is very important. Some people have either risked or given their lives for America. I say that's worth honoring. It was moved to a different day once, but I'm glad they moved it back, because Veterans Day is so significant. It's definitely worth remembering. There are many ways we can honor our veterans, including visiting them or going to the parade. Life in the armed services would probably be very difficult. You'd have to give up so much, including time with your family. It would be hard for me to wake up at 4:00 am and do a long routine, including stepping a certain amount of paces. It would drive me crazy.

Honoring those who have protected our country is something worth honoring and thanking. We can visit veterans, hang a flag in my yard, and thank the veterans that you visit or know to honor veterans. ReplyDeleteVeterans day is an opportunity to say thank you to all those who you normally wouldn't give a thank you to. Veterans day is to honor the soldiers and all those who have served, or are serving. I think it should also be a day to thank and remember all the verterans families. When a father or a mother, or anyone you know goes away to serve, especially for a long period of time, people worry about them and a piece of their life is missing because a person they love has gone to serve and protect or country. I think to personally honor veterans all we need to do is say a little thank you. If you want to go even farther you can take time to visit verterans in verteran homes. In the armed services I think it would be very very difficult. Not only do you have to go through a physicaly demanding training, but also a mentally, and emotionally, demanding. Once you got into the service then who would have to fight, while being away from your family. You would also not be the most comfortable.

It is also a day to think about what our country might be like without them, and the everyday privileges we receive because they fight. It is important because it was originally celebrated for the end of the war, and that helps to symbolize that America tries to gain peace. I think it is really important to honor veterans personally. I read about companies who would announce and thank all the veterans that worked for them. It is also important to keep in mind that not every soldier is seeing action across the world. Lots of people serving our country are right here, working in an office. We can also honor veterans by just saying "thank you".I think it would be amazing to serve in the military today. I actually want to serve in the Navy.(I'm actually watching the Navy football game right now and they are doing a military appreciation moment) I have several veterans and current soldiers in my family, but my uncle, who served in the military, was one of the people who inspired me to serve. My uncle's name was Florno and he served in World War 2. He was stationed somewhere in Germany and was a medic. My uncle went back and froth for seventy-two hours straight, saving more than 100 people. When he was going back to camp, though, he was blown up by a landmine and died. He received a purple heart and an Oak Star. He is one of the most courageous men I have ever heard of, and I really wish I could have met him. Though you might have to be away from your family, and it is always hard to do your best and save a country, I think serving in the military would be an amazing opportunity.

I think there are a couple ways we can show our gratitude. One way is just by saying thank you. I think life in the army today would be hard. I think fighting in the army today might be easier than before now that we have better and stronger weapons to use. It also might be harder, now that our enemies have strong weapons too. You don't get to see or talk to your family for months, and their family doesn't know if they're alive or not. All they can do is send their prayers and hope for the best. Not only remebering the veterans, but also their families, is a good way to celebrate veterans day.

It is also a day to show them respect and appreciation for what they have done for this country. Ways I can honor them are go to veteran home and spend time with the veterans and thank them for their service. There are many ways to thank veterans and military members. One would be what we did for community service on the Monday of Halloween. We can visit the veterans and talk to them, give them the chance to socialize with different people. Also, just one little thank you can warm a present/past military member's heart. To be in the military today, I think it would be very hard for them and their family. Their family will never know when something will happen to their relative.

Some ways that I can honor our Vets and the people in the military is saying "thank you", visiting the Veterans Administration and Veterans memorial. Ways I can personally honor these people are, I can spend time with them at the veteran's home just like we did as a class. Also, I can and do thank veteran's when I see them. I think that life in the armed forces today would be very different than a long time ago. We are able to sent food and water to our soldiers. Also I think in a way it would be easier because again, we are able to sent food and water, and we are able to house them, and we are able to get news within minutes of it happening. From another perspective it would be harder, because with all the technology of today, the soldiers are at a much higher risk. The weapons are extremely advanced, causing it to be more dangerous. I also think that it would be really scary and sad, because if you were in danger, it would be scary, and you would have to leave your family for long periods.

What you can personally do to honor our Veterans is like I do, pray , visit, personally thank them, or/and help them any way you can. Today in the armed services it would probably be really overwhelming and nerve racking. It would be really nerve racking because you never know when you will have to go out and serve/fight.

I think life would be hard in the armed forces because if you are posted in the middle east, you are armed and people in the village are cursing at you and staying away from you and don't trust you. You never know wether or not someone will shoot at you or if it will be peaceful.
I think veterans day is an amazing holiday. I think it's significance is huge because soldiers pit their lives on the line for us. A couple of ways you can personally honor veterans and current military members is by praying. When you pray for the people who are in our out of the military service, you show to God that you really care about their well-being. I think it would be tough serving in the military today especially if you are trying to become high level personnel. They put you through tough courses and a lot of people who apply to become someone who has higher personnel wash out.
ReplyDeleteI believe that as a country we need veterans day. It is an important holiday and celebration for all the men and women in our country, which is why I believe we need it. I think it helps soldiers and veterans to know that we care for them and that we are thankful for their sacrifice for us. One thing I could personally do to honor our veterans is to be more open, by specifically getting to know a few of them. On veterans day and on a routine basis go see veterans or one veteran in particular to help them through tough times, and just to help them understand that people still care and honor them. I also think that our military today is very safe and "boring," and by boring I am just trying to show how a few if not most military soldiers in service now aren't doing to much. We are not in a big war, we don't need all our troops to fight ISIS, and so they are probably just at bases or camps. Not doing nothing, but not doing a whole lot either. So I believe that to days military is pretty laid back and safe Generally. I also believe it is very nice and comfortable with machines and pretty advanced medical knowledge .

I know many veterans in my life so I can say thank you to all of them. Now in our time it probably would be stressful because with all of these terrorist groups we could go to war at any time. I think kids should remember of how protected and safe they are due to our veterans. I think that I can thank them by telling my friends and family about what I learned on the field trip and that I can be very respectful to them when I see them. I thank that life in the current military would be very hard. I would have to miss my family for a along time and I probably wouldn't fight against people directly or join a war (unless we were at war). I think it would be a very hard life to live and I think that any person who serves in the military is a very brave and honorable person.

ReplyDeleteI think that Veterans Day is extremely important to celebrate. We not only need to thank our veterans, but also their families. Having a family member leave for maybe a year at a time is not only hard for the soldier that's leaving, it is also hard for the family physically and mentally. Having a vacancy in your family is very hard to live with, not knowing if you dad, mom, or spouse is safe. Freedom is taken for granted very often, and the veterans sometimes get nothing in return . For Veterans Day, my family goes to the cemetery and we bring flowers to my cousin who was killed a couple years ago on his 3rd trip to Afghanistan. We have also had 3 family members in the military, so since our family has that insight on what it's like to have someone missing, I take my personal time to thank my family members and pray for those that won't be able to see their families again. I think that life in the armed services would be rattling, especially with all the unrest in the middle East.

When we went there was a guy talking to me and he repeated it over and over again but he said he just loves having visitors and he always has so much fun with them. Personally we can support our troops and veterans by praying for them and going to visit the vets at the VA, like we did for our community service project. If we do forget about it, then think about how that would make people feel. What if someone forgot your birthday? How would that make you feel? I can't imagine what life would be like today in the military. It would be scary if you went to war because you could get killed at any time, but also really cool to work the technology that few people outside of the military know how to work. And if you come back from a war and you were successful, then it would be a good feeling to know that you've saved the US again

Both of my grandfathers are veterans and I can try to honor them even though they are gone. I think that we do not honor them enough and that they should at least have veterans day to be honored. I also think that visiting the veteran's homes and talking to them makes them feel good about themselves. I think we should talk with veterans more often to make them feel liked in the community. We should be grateful to our veterans because life in the military would be so hard. You would not be able to see your family or any other loved ones. I believe that it is a good thing that Veteran's Day was made a holiday. I can visit Veteran's homes and talk with them. I have looked at veterans day a lot through books and websites but I usually don't think too much of it. Most people don't realize to see people dead but it can scar you but all veterans are usually very content.
