The government
created by the Constitution was not our first government after the
Revolutionary War. Our first government was
created through the Articles of Confederation.
While they were created by incorporating the ideas which were
instrumental in the call for independence, they were ineffective at a national
and global level.
State representative
met in Philadelphia, PA in May of 1787 to discuss revising the Articles. Through considerable debate and negotiation,
the delegates decided to start over.
What they came up with has guided our government and our country for
more than 200 years.
The Constitution
begins with the Preamble. This single sentence
sums up the ideas the people had about the government and its role in
society. It reads:
We the
People of the United States, in Order
to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility,
provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the
Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish
this Constitution for the United States of America.
After reading the Preamble, summarize the
sentence in your own words. Based on its
content, what concerns did the framers of the Constitution have about the role
of government? Why do you think it has
continued to be relevant after 200 years?

Grace-Together as one, we will be considerate, peaceful, cooperative, enduring, and prosperous to each other, and we will defend our freedom and make this happen at all costs. The framers clearly wanted everyone to have a say and make the U.S.A. a safe and peaceful place. I think the Constitution is still relevant because citizens of the U.S.A. are happy with it. Some of what they are trying to say in the Preamble is hard for me to comprehend, but I do know that there is justice and liberty in the U.S.A.

The framers wanted the people to have the right to do or say something I also think that they wanted people to stay so they gave them rights. I think it's still relevant because it's what founded America, without it we wouldn't have the rights we have today.

People still respect the Constitution and i thinks its still right. We all need to respect our country and work together, we need to defend for whats right.

ReplyDeleteNatalie- Together as a whole, we will live as equals, make sure justice is served, make peace, provide security for citizens, and reassure that there will be freedom for all people. I think the framers meant for everyone to have a part in what happens in the country, and make sure that everyone felt that they were in a protected environment from anything in Europe at the time that they wanted to get away from. People still abide by the Constitution because it is fair, gives everyone the same rights, gives us relative peace, and is a way of serving justice to those who have broken the law.

The framers wanted the government to rule fairly and have the people decide who they wanted as a leader. I think it has continued to be relevant because it was a good constitution. No one has thought that it needed to be seriously revised because they all agree that it's fair and just and that is what America should stand for.

ReplyDeleteThe framers wanted the government to have some say but not to rule everything, and to give each person equal opportunity.This document was to regulate the amount of say of the government, and is still followed to this day is because it spells out what we stand for as a country.I think it will stay that way for hundreds of years to come.
Nathaniel- It is basically saying, we always support the truth, work together in times of need, protect one another, and contribute to welfare of our country in any way possible. The framers of the Constitution probably were worried because it may sound like the government is taking control of all the power. It continues to be relevant, because some countries may feel that The United States is never dividing, and stands up for every persons opinion. For these reasons, the Constitution of The United States is looked upon with great respect.

It is also saying that the U.S. is a brotherhood and are always there for each other, in thick and thin. The framers probably feared the possibility of it becoming a communism (good think Andoni wasn't one of the Frame people)

ReplyDeleteRylie- The Delcaration of Independence sets forth the core beliefs of sertain rights proseced by the citizens. It looked as though the government was to run and help organize the people, but together we all have freedom. The government has helped us sustain and grow for over 200 years.
Keelie: We need to be stronger as one through peace, laws, and security. the concerns the framers might have had was how they would keep america together and happy wit each other so they have to establish rules everyone agrees with. because after 200 years we still think the same about, and agree with, the Preamble.

Their role was to come together and discuss the issue of becoming independent. I think it is still around because we still love being free.
ReplyDeleteLiam- The Preamble is basically saying that in the next few paragraphs we will state what we think are the right laws to keep peace in this new land, and that these decisions were made by the people for the people. They thought that the people should have authority over decisions made by the government. The constitution has continued to be relevant throughout the years, because it has met all of its goals without a problem, and it will continue to be sustained with its amendments as long as it continues to stand legit with its purposes.

The Framers were concerned quite a bit about governement and it's role, otherwise they wouldn't have made the Constitution. I feel that the framers of the Constitution wanted to make sure that our government wasn't controlling people. In stead they wanted the United States to be a land of opportunities. But they needed some laws and rules that would make it be the land of opportunities. Without the constitution our country could be a mad place. I feel that no one has bothered to change the constitution because if we have made it 200 years with it then we can make 200 more years with it.

We have freedom to almost everything. everyone is a cell in the human body. without one cell, the human body changes. The Framers wanted all the people to have equal rights, although there came segregation and protests but it later turned out well.

DeleteSean-There are all few frivolous things in the constitution; for example, there was a part in there where they all were going to have no taxes, concluding to the sense that the whole revolution was started by ridiculously high taxes on tea and other materials or supplies. anyway, the anti tax only lasted ten or more years because the country couldn't afford to privately fund itself. To conclude the statement, an empire cannot build itself with nonexistent stone.
