This Sunday marks the 15th anniversary of one of the most tragic days in modern American history. While the day began as any other day, it would end with images and stories of unfathomable death and destruction. It was a day no one saw coming and no one will ever forget.
While truly tragic, it was also a day which demonstrated the incredible will and strength of the human spirit. There were as many stories of heroism as there was destruction. We witnessed countless acts of bravery and selflessness. And these are only the stories we know. Many of the incredible stories forever died with the victims.
The following is a brief timeline of the day’s events.
At 8:45 am, the first plane crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. The crash instantly killed hundreds of innocent people and trapped hundreds more above the 110th floor. While emergency crews sprang into action, a mere 18 minutes later, a second plane crashed into the South Tower. It was evident to all, this was not a coincidence, the United States was under attack.
At 9:45 am, a third plane crashed into the Pentagon. The jet fuel caused a devastating fire causing a small structural collapse.
15 minutes after the Pentagon crash, the South Tower collapsed. It was less than one hour from the time the plane crashed into the building to when it fell to the ground.
At 10:10, the country became aware of a fourth plane wreck. United Flight 93 had left the Newark airport late. 40 minutes after departure, terrorists took control of the plane. The passengers on the plane, aware of the events of New York and Washington, decided to take action. They overtook the terrorist and in the process crashed the plane into a Pennsylvanian field. All aboard were killed instantly.
At 10:30, the inevitable occurred. The North Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed. While the nation watched in awe, the brave firefighters, police officers and other city officials continued to respond to their call to duty. Due to the devastation created when the Twin Towers collapsed, four other building would fall to the ground during the day.
As the day concluded we began to hear the devastating carnage from the day. In New York City approximately 3,000 people were killed, including 343 firefighter and paramedics, 23 police officers and 37 Port Authority officers. In Washington, DC, 125 military personnel and civilians were killed at the Pentagon in addition to the 64 people on board the flight. An additional 45 people were killed in the Pennsylvanian field from Flight 93.
What do you know about the events of September 11th? Do you think this is a day of tragedy or triumph for the United States? After the events of the day, the country promised to "Never Forget". Do you think the country does enough to make sure the victims and sacrifices of 9/11 are not ever forgotten? What else could be done?

On September 11th, I know that 4 planes crashed and many people were killed-from the crashes or from trying to save others. I also know that 2 planes crashed into the Twin Towers, and they fell down eventually. One plane hit the Pentagon, and the other was stopped by the passengers and smashed into a field. I think that even though there were so many tragedies on September 11, it was a triumph for our country because many people died saving others and did many amazing things that showed a lot of spirit. These actions tell that America is strong and can pull together in tough times. I think that our country could do more to make sure that the victims and sacrifices of 9/11 are not forgotten. Some things that could be done are televising heroic stories on every T.V. channel on September 11th and strongly encouraging all schools to spend more time discussing it with students.
ReplyDeleteI know that this was caused by terrorists and that many died. I think this day was a tragedy because so many people died and important buildings collapsed. People that were in the buildings and the planes mostly all died. I think that the country does a pretty good job of making sure the victims are not forgotten because they celebrate the anniversary every year. We could have a memorial or something to remember them.
ReplyDeleteI know that this tragic event was caused by these bad people and it was part of a plot to destroy the U.S government.Think it is a tragic event for this to Happen in the land of opportunity.I think we should never forget those heroes and people who died on that horrible day.I think that we should make 9/11 a holiday were we try to remember what those people fought for.
ReplyDeleteI know that many people died on the day of 9/11 just because of some really stupid terrorists. I also know that they were heading for the White House. This was a moment of both triumph and tragedy. Many people died and that is tragic. But, on the other hand, it brought us together as a nation. This was a moment where our strong patriotism came out. There are monuments and parades that are attended every September 11th. This is good but there are many people our age that don't know what happened. Instead of watching depressing videos, they should do a lesson on September 11th.
ReplyDeleteI know that on September 11 early in the morning there were 2 planes filled with passengers, that crashed into two buildings in New York known as the Twin Towers. Hundreds of people died, these planes crashed due to terrorists on the plans. 2 to 3 hours later another plane crashed into the Pentagon. More people died and the plane crashed due to terrorists. Then another plane crashed into a field in Illinois. I think it was a tragedy due to all the people who died on this horrific day. I do but there is always more to do we always remember about the twin towers but not so much the plane that crashed in the field. I feel like at a certain part of the day we should take a moment of silence.

ReplyDeleteI know that 4 planes crashed due to terrorist and many people were killed. People were killed by the terrorists and by trying to help the situation. I think it was triumph and tragedy because it brought people together and also killed many. This tragic event brought people together to remember those who died trying to help and those who died from the crashes that's why I think it is triumph. Many people died because of not having enough security at airports, this is why it is tragedy because they found the flaw in the U.S and used it against us. I think the country could do more to remember those who died and tried to help in this tragic event. A couple of things we could do to remember those who died are schools could spend 5 minutes remembering those who died. Another thing is that teachers could do a presentation that teaches students what happened that day.
ReplyDeleteI know that on 9/11 4 planes crashed. Two of the planes crashed into the world trade centers, one crashed into the pentagon, and one was hijacked, then taken back by civilians, it was already too late though, the plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. Thousands of people were killed and many more injured. Many firefighters, and men and women of the police department, emergency medical groups, national guard, military, and many other volunteers and work groups, were killed saving lives. I think that this is a day of both tragedy and triumph, because thousands of people were mercilessly killed, and many others wounded. Many people and families suffered that day, and the whole country mourned for the loss of lives and for the loss of a sense of security.I also think that this day was a day of triumph in the U.S. because we now have airports and planes that are secure and safe. People have to go through many security devices and cameras, plus the watchful eye of the staff of the airport and planes. Yes I think the U.S has done a great job of remembering the people who were killed or who sacrificed their lives to help the people of their country. I think that a way to better remember the victims and sacrifices that are remembered and honored, is that parents and teachers can talk to their children and students about 9/11 and the heroic people who sacrificed, their lives, the victims, and the lesson we as a country have learned from this terrible deed.
ReplyDeleteI know that on 9-11 that four planes crashed because they were taken control of by terrorists. I know that both of the twin towers collapsed after the planes flew into them. I also know that another plane crashed into the Pentagon. There was also a plane that is believed to be aimed at the White House that the civilians took control of the plane and sacrificed their own lives to save many others. I think that 9-11 is a tragedy and a triumph, It was a tragedy because over 3,000 people died, it is also a triumph because it brought the nation together and we all mourned together. From the East to the West the United States came together as one. I think lots is done for those who need to be remembered; museums, flags prayer services, silent moments. The on thing I think should be done is no flights on 9-11. Sometimes that is asking to much so maybe just from the time that the first plane took off to 10:30 or 11 am I think it would be respectful and a good way to pay our respects. They may do this already I don't know but it would be nice to do that.
ReplyDeleteI know that on September 11,2001 four planes were hijacked by terrorists. Two of them crashed into the twin towers, one of them into the Pentagon and the fourth one was taken back over by passengers who crashed it into a field in Pennsylvania. I also know that over 3,000 innocent people were killed. This was definitely a day of tragedy because so many people were killed. It is also a day of triumph because we came together as a nation and were strong and we recovered. I think the people that were killed are well remembered today. There are monuments all over New York City and Washington remembering these people. I think that we should learn more about 9/11 in school.

ReplyDeleteAll I know about 9/11 is that two planes crashed into the Twin Towers, and one into the Pentagon. I also know that a phone call was made from one of the planes from a passenger. He called his wife, told her that he and a few others were going to take the terrorist driving the plane and take him down. He and a few other men actually crash ed the plane in a field instead of somewhere else with many people. The men died and so did the terrorist. I think a few of the passengers survived. I feel like that was a great act of triumph over somebody else's ill intentions. The men showed great courage and true American spirit. George Bush also showed great bravery. He acknowledged the great loss, but he also brought the country closer than ever. We had faced a great tragedy but won a tough battle. The war will still go on, but the events of 9/11 showed that we will keep fighting and that we are a country united no matter our differences. There are many monuments in several cities documenting and honoring the horrific yet amazing conflict our country went through. These monuments are spectacular and really grasp how America acted in the trying times. No matter how small the monument, it holds a special place in each American's heart. I think that teachers and educators should really go into depth about what happened on 9/11. I'm in seventh grade and I still don't know a lot about 9/11! I think we should talk about the horrors and triumphs that happened on 9/11. It may seem a little hard to swallow, but it is important to know what has happened in the United States and to be prepared to face other tragedies in the future. If we are ignorant and have very little knowledge about our country, others might take advantage of us and some sort of terrorism like 9/11 or worse could happen again.
ReplyDeleteWhat I know about the events on 9/11 is that terrorists took control of 4 planes. Two hit the twin towers. One hit the Pentagon. One was also aimed at the white house. On that plane, passengers took control of it and landed in field in Philadelphia. They risked their lives so they could save many others. This is a day of both tragedy and triumph. It was very sad, but it also brought us together as a nation. I think that we are doing a lot of things to remember this. There are monuments, memorials, and news on it. If something else were to be done about this, I think we should have a moment of silent prayer during certain parts of this day.
ReplyDeleteOn 9/11 I know that 4 planes crashed throughout the day. Two planes crashed into the Twin Towers in New York, One plane crashed into the Pentagon, and the other was overthrown by the passengers and crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. On the plane that was overthrown, a man actually called his wife and told her what was happening during the situation. Another thing I know about 9/11 is that George Bush was in a children's classroom when the incident happened and he had to be rushed away immediately. This event for the U.S was a triumph because we showed that if you knock some of us down we will come together and be even stronger afterwards. I think that the U.S will always be united on this day because of how much it means to all U.S citizens. The United States does an amazing job of never forgetting the hero's and victims of 9/11. We have so many memorials as well as monuments for the people that died. One thing that we should add to honor those people is have a time of silence throughout the whole country to respect and remember these people.
ReplyDeleteI know that on September 11, 2001, four plains were "highjacked" and were planed to crash into specific spots around the U.S. three of the four hit their targets, north and south World Trade Centers and the Pentagon. Flight 93 was sapose to crash into the White House but the passengers took the plane down. I feel it was a sad day for many but a happy one for others, and I feel it was a sad day because about 3500 people lost their lives that day. I feel the U.S does a good job at having people to remember the tragedy because there is a monument where the building use to be all across the U.S people proclaim it all day. I feel that the U.S could do a better job though by, not making it a national holiday but make it a very important day like Earth day or something like that.
ReplyDeleteI know that on September 11, two large planes crashed into the World Trade center in the early mourning and hundreds of thousands of people died after the first and Second towers fell onto of the other lede buildings around. Yet soon after another plane hit the pentagon and one more plane was brought down by passengers before it could hit the White House. How ever through all of this I believe it was a triumph for our Country. Since then we have learned from our mistakes and have created more productive, safer ways to protect passengers on flights. Not to mention all the people who gave there lives to help like the Red Bandana Man or all the boat men who helped people get of the Manhattan Island. For these reasons and many more I believe it was a triumph for our country that 9/11 happen. In these documentaries I also believe that the country does a fairly good job of recognizing those who had died or suffered on that day. Yet they could do more. They could make it mandatory for schools to go over this subject for however long they wanted but they at lest had to do it. They could also have a moment of silence or prayer for all those who have died thought the inter country, but still. I believe that the U.S has done a good job with never forgetting 9/11.
ReplyDeleteWhat I know about 9/11 is that there were two planes. The planes crashed into both of the twin towers. These towers were among the tallest buildings in the world. These towers we hit early in the morning. When the first tower got hit by the plane, everyone thought of it as a tragic accident. America soon realized that this was no accident when sadly the second twin tower got hit. At the same time the Pentagon gets hit by another plane. Many people are reported dead and the death tolls keep climbing as the towers soon began to collapse. While all of this commotion is going on, there is another flight heading towards the White house. The cockpit is taken over, but the passengers all discuss and say that they need to crash the plane in order to save more lives. So everyone on the plane sacrifices themselves in order to help America. I think that this is not a day of triumph, but I also think it is not a day of tragedy. It is very sad that people died on this day of 9/11 and it hurts my heart even not being there to witness or hear about it. But I also think that we did gain a little triumph out of this. Our nation was a complete wreck and we still managed to stay calm and in order. I think that we handled this with complete dignity and professionalism. I do think that the country does keep their promise to never forget. Think about it, we still remember 15 years later. We still watch the Red Bandana videos in class. We all pray together as a church on 9/11. I think that our country has done an outstanding job remembering the lives lost. I think that we could all have to do a report on 9/11 every school I the nation, this way the USA could make sure that no one ever forgets the tragedy that happened on this day of 9/11
ReplyDeleteI know that there were 4 planes hijacked by terrorists. Two of them came out of the Boston airport, and two came out of Indianapolis. I know that two of them hit the World Trade Centers, one of them crashed into a field in Pennsylvania, and one hit the Pentagon. Then the Twin Towers collapsed and over 3,000 people died. I really think this is a day of triumph. The terrorist organization that caused this event to happen thought it would tear us apart. They were wrong! This tragic event brought us closer than we ever could have been. I think the victims and sacrifices of 9/11 will never be forgotten. They built a memorial where the towers stood to remember the people who died on that tragic day. I think that every single business, school, and government building should take the day of to commemorate the day.
ReplyDeleteI Know that 3 planes where crashed in to the twin Towers and the Pentagon, and a fourth was under terrorist control until several civilians took over and crashed the plane . I think this was a day of triumph for the U.S. It helped us to realize that we are not invincible. It helped us to come together as a stronger unified nation. No, I think that even though there are memorials that the family's of those who died to help others should at least be presented with an award like a silver star.
ReplyDeleteI know that 4 planes were taken control by terrorists, 2 crashed in the twin towers in New York, on crashed in the Pentagon in Washington D.C, one was planned to hit the Capital in D.C. but the passengers attacked and they crashed in the plane in Pennsylvania. This brought us together to remember all the lives that were lost. We have done everything we could to stop this from happening again. I think everybody should remember this day as a tragic day but it also was positive to help us all come together.
ReplyDeleteAll I know about 9/11 is that there were 4 planes that were hijaged by terorists and there was one that crashed into the pentagon and how a man survived and that one was heading to the capital but the people on that plane got back control and took it down themselfs. The last two were the most famous and they crashed into the world trade center's two main towers and that the heat was so intence that the towers fell to the ground. During this day it killed a lot of people and that America will always remember it. I know people thought it was a acident when the first tower was struck but after the first everyone watched the second so then they knew that it was a terorist attack on America.
ReplyDeleteI know that 2 planes crashed into the Twin towers and 1 crashed into the pentagon. The other one crashed into a Pennsylvania field. I think it was a day of triumph because the country showed that it can stand up and work against the tourists. If it was giving up their lives so others did not have to give up their or people helping other people to safety. I think that people will always remember this event because of the amazing things that Americans did for their country. I think to keep this event in our hearts every school, business, building, and person should have a second out of their at to remember the people in 9/11 who scarified their lives so we could be here today safe.
ReplyDeleteI know that on 9/11 4 panes crashed, 2 into the twin towers, 1 into the pentagon, and 1 into a feild in Pensylvania. I think that this was a day of triumph because we came together as a country and worked together. I don't think that the victaims and and sacrifices will ever be forgoton.
ReplyDeleteI know that on 9/11 four planes were hijacked by terrorists and two of them crashed into the twin towers. One crashed into the pentagon and the last one was taken down by passengers inside of it that realized the plane was hijacked. I know that the first plane hit the north tower, then the second plane hit the south tower a few minutes later. After the second plane hit it was apparent that the US was under attack.
ReplyDeleteI think this day was tragic, but if it didn't happen, another terror attack in the U.S. would have happened sooner or later. I think as a country, the U.S. stood strong and united on this day. I think we have done enough to prevent more incidents like this and that is how we make sure we never forget. For example, the TSA does much more to secure people at the airports.
I know that on September 11, that four planes were hijacked by terrorists. Two crashed into the twin towers, one into the Pentagon, and one was crashed in the middle of nowhere in a field by brave passengers who rushed the terrorist.
ReplyDeleteEven though the day was tragic, I think it was a moment of triumph for the United States. The spirit of the United States became stronger on that day. We remember that day and there isn't a lot more we can do other than that.
I know that 4 planes crashed into the twin tower and it was a horrible day. I also know that many people were injured or hurt. I think this was a huge tragedy but also a huge triumph, I think that it brought the United states closer. I don't think that anything else should be done to remember this day, i think that everyone will remember this day.
ReplyDeleteI know that on 9/11 in Manhattan to planes crashed into the twin towers. Both planes were hijacked. This event killed many people. Also, a hijacked plane crashed into the pentagon, that also killed many innocent people, and another was hijacked but the passengers soon realized it was hijacked, took over the plane, and crashed the plane themselves. I think this day was both tragedy and triumph. I think it was a tragedy because so many innocent people died that day because of terrorists. On the other hand, I think it was a great triumph. Everyone around was helping each other out. They were all scared, but because of that they worked hard to make sure everyone was safe. They were stronger together then they were apart. The US stood as one united, strong country. I think that the US does a lot in rememberance of 9/11. There are many schools that spend classes talking about 9/11. I think this day will aways and forever go down in history even 100, 200 years from now. I think that the security in planes can be more secure. There could be more safety. I also think that the airports are doing the best they can to make it as safe as possible.
ReplyDeleteI know many things about the date of 9/11. 4 specific planes were set out from Boston with terrorist on board. The 4 planes were set to be hijacked. 2 planes were sent to crash into the twin towers in Manhattan New York, and the 3rd was sent to crash into the Pentagon, and the last and final plane was set to crash into the white house but got redirected and crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. I think it was mainly a tragedy for the United States because my people lost theirs lives who were so innocent and had no part in it. It also was a triumph by how the president showed such leadership and how everyone helped one another. People with tie boats on the dock her fighting to help others leave the island, and we can't even forget about Welles Crowther. He showed leadership, bravery, and a since of direction for those who needed it. I feel like the United States could show a little bit more respect to the victims of 9/11. Even though we have a memorable in New York, their should be traditions in all different states, whether its a "walk the city march", or other people could make their own memorable plat for someone and then display it out in public for those to see. I also think teachers in schools should dedicate 2-3 days about talking and sharing their thoughts on this event with their students. Planes, airports, tourism attractions could be more secure. Yes we have medal detectors and security, but we need to make sure that our country stays safe and secure from harmful people or activities.
ReplyDeleteWhat I know about 9/11 is that it was an attack on New York and two planes crashed into the twin towers, one hit the pentagon, and one got taken over by the passengers and coach landed. I think that it was a triumph for the United States because they got confidence to stand up for us and fight against the people that did this to our country. I think that people won't forget what happened on 9/11 and parents are telling their kids about what happened and teachers are teaching their students about it by showing them videos or reading books about it. People would help others if they needed it and give them a helping hand when they needed help with something. The security has improved at airports to make sure that this would not happen again.
ReplyDeleteI know a few things about 9/11. I know that four planes were sent from Boston and they all were taken over by terrorists. Two of the planes were sent to hit the twin towers. One of them was sent to hit the pentagon. We didn't know were the fourth one was directed but we think it was aimed toward something in D.C like the White House. I think it was both a tragedy and a triumph for our country. It was a tragedy because thousands of people died. But it was also a triumph because our president showed great leadership and it kind of brought our country together. I think that the country does a great job making sure that they are never forgotten. I think we could have a memorial fro all the sacrifices and victims in downtown New York City.
ReplyDeleteI know that 2 planes crashed into the Twin Towers. Both the north and south towers. 1 went to the Pentagon and crashed. The last one was headed towards the White House ( we think) but was hijacked by passengers and crashed into a empty field in Pennsylvania. I think it was a tragedy and triumph for our country because almost 3,000 people died that day and it was very sad. But our country stuck together and our president was very brave. I think we do a great job of making sure we remember because we try to raise awareness in school and we have memorials and we have social media which everyone says things about it so that everyone knows.
ReplyDeleteI know that 2 planes crashed into the twin towers,1 plane hit the Pentagon, and 1 crashed. It was both a triumph and tragedy. it was a tragic because so many people died. It was a triumph because so many people were risking there live to save other people.yes I think this day will always be remembered because they have the memorial in new York. something they could have done to help more is have made the airports safer.
ReplyDeleteI know that 4 planes crashed, one in the north twin tower, on e in the south twin tower, one in the pentagon and on on a field. This is a tragedy because 1000's of people have died. Yes because they do a parade every year. We could also name all of the family who have lost a person.
ReplyDeleteI think that this was in the middle. Lots of people died but we came closer together as a nation so that is a plus in the down of things. Yes the country has done plenty to make sure 9/11 is never fogotton and i don't think anything really could have been done about the attack.
ReplyDeleteI know decent amount about what happened on 9/11. Two flights were hijacked by multiple terrorists. Both flights, headed from Boston to Los Angeles, were hijacked by about 4 or 5 terrorists. At approximately 8:48, American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Many people thought of it as an accident, but a mere 18 minutes later, as we were all standing in shock, United Airlines Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center. Everybody's thought of it being an accident turned into a thought of us being under attack. A couple minutes after this, President bush is notified of the attack. He is then taken to several secure locations around the country. Somewhere around 9:45, American Airlines Flight 77 crashes into the A-wing of the Pentagon, Causing jet fuel to go everywhere and damages B-wing and E-wing. Shortly after this occurs, The remaining burning jet fuel causes a structural collapse in the Pentagon. 15 minutes after this, the South Tower collapses. It is later discovered that a fourth plane that was headed for the White House was taken back by the passengers and forced to crash in a field located in Pennsylvania. It is widely known that one, if not more, person called their family and said their goodbyes. 20 minutes after this occurred, The North Tower collapses. During the rest of the day, due to the devastation caused by the events of the day, four more buildings would collapse. This is absolutely a day of triumph and unity. Yes, there were close to 3,000 lives lost, and that is an absolute tragedy. Nobody deserved to die, but we shouldn't dwell on that aspect. The important thing is that even in the midst of violence, disaster, and affliction, we took up arms and rose up from the dust and stopped Al-Qaeda. The terrorists who planned and executed this plan got the exact opposite effect they wanted. We rose stronger, greater than them, and increased security all in all. Even so, for the next few days, Italy flew the American Flag on top of the Eiffel Tower. A true sign of unity. Our country does a lot to commemorate the day of this horrible catastrophe, but there could be a little bit more to be done. There could 1 minute of silence at 9:11 in the morning every year on September 11th to memorialize the lives lost to heroism, bravery, and terrorism. I can't even imagine just being at work. drinking a cup of coffee, minding your own business, and then this huge explosion either injures you, kills you, or severely burns you. May God bless the people killed in this disaster, as well as countless others affected.
ReplyDeleteWhat I know about 9/11 is that 4 planes crashed. Two in the twin towers, 1 in the Pentagon, and 1 in a Pennsylvania field. These crashes killed thousands of people in the planes, in the buildings, and the people that were trying to save lives. I think that this was a day of both Tragedy and Triumph. I think this because the whole nation forgot about hate and became one in helping people be rescued from Manhattan from the crashes. But thousands of people still died so that was the Tragic part about it. I don't think that the country does enough, I think that every day on 9/11 we should have something on the news retelling the story of 9/11 and honor those who died trying to save others lives. Another thing that we could do is make teachers teach their classes about the day of 9/11. God Bless Everyone who died on the Day of 9/11 and God Bless America!
ReplyDeleteWhat I know about 9/11 is that four planes crashed. Two in the twin towers, 1 in the pentagon, and 1 in Pennsylvania. I know that 1000 of boats came together to help the people in need. I know that lots of people died and suffered, and without the help of each other our country wouldn't get through it. People rescued one another and tried to save as many lives as possible. An example of what people did is the boy and the red bandana, he was a fire fighter and sacrificed his own life for others. I think it is a day of both triumph and tragedy. It was triumphant because our society came together as one to help one another. All the boats came to help ship the people away from Manhattan. But it was a tragedy because so many people died. I think our country does a lot but I think we could do more. It's good that we made it a special day and our teachers have us study it. But we can do more, we could make it a holiday, have parades, and celebrations. The people who suffered through that day deserve our respect, they fought and represented our country. Hopefully everyone sees the importance of this day and can help make it a day to remember for ever.
ReplyDeleteWhat I know about the tragedy of 9/11 is that during what seemed to be a normal day four large planes who's original destination was across the country were hijacked by a group of terrorists and were sent in various directions heading for various targets. The first two planes to get hijacked flew into the twin towers of the world trade center. The north was hit first and the south second. Meanwhile the third hijacked plane flew into the side of the Pentagon, the largest office building in the U.S. The forth plane was lost for a while but later found heading in the direction of Washington DC. But thankfully the plane crashed in a open plain in Pennsylvania, but at a cost. The passengers were able to storm the hijacked cockpit and force the plane down. Unfortunately all passengers on board died. While this was happening the south tower of the world trade center had collapsed, and only a little while later the north tower did the same. In total over 3,000 innocent lives were lost in New York alone as well as several hundred others from the Pentagon and flight 93. Although extremely tragic I know that the event of 9/11 made the United States a much stronger country.
ReplyDeleteOn September 11, America was hit by four planes. One went into the north tower, and the other into the south tower. A third hit the pentagon and the last crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. Nearly 3,000 people died. I think 9/11 was a day of triumph and tragedy for the United States. While people died and lost their family members, people were also pulled together. I think that people will one day forget what happened on 9/11. People will go one with their lives. You might not know what tragic events happened on December 7th or April 15(which was Pearl Harbor and The Boston Marathon) although they were terrible attacks on America. I think that there are enough things being done. Move on but remember.
ReplyDeleteOn September 11th in New York City two planes were being hijacked by terrorist. These planes were very large planes with LOT'S of fuel. Back then the cockpit was open on not lock as it is today. These terrorist were able to go in take over the plane and then fly to New York then flying them into the South and North tower of the Twin Towers complex. The first plane was not captured on T.V and there is very few video of the first tower hitting. After that the second plane hit the other tower and that was captured on T.V mostly because all the major and little news programs were on those towers. Then the pentagon in Washington D.C was hit and then the President was in Florida and was told "A plane has crashed into the Twin Tower, we are under attack". Then they commanded all planes grounded and that any other plane was a target and a weapon in the enemies hands. Then Flight 93 was forced down to the field in Penn. by the passengers. I feel that at the for a couple hours or so that yes it was a tragedy but after that is was a triumph. All of New York, Washington even all of America came together as one. i feel that America does do a lot to reach out to all those affected by 9/11 but nothing can make up for all those lives lost.
ReplyDeleteIn 2001, on September 11th four planes taken over by terrorists hit the U.S. Two of the planes hit both of the twin towers, and one at the Pentagon and one in Pennsylvania. About 3,000 people died and this was one of the most tragic things to happen to America. This event hurt so many people, not only physically but mentally and emotionally. Many people lost family members or friends that meant a lot to them. I believe that this horrible event will be forever remembered by some people as one of the worst terrorist attacks. I also believe that the tradegy brought us closer as a nation and that the people are doing the best that they can to make sure that this day will never be forgotten.
ReplyDeleteI know there was 4 planes and they hit The Twin Towers, The Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania. About 3000 people died and it was one of the worst terror attacks in America. I believe this was both tragedy and a triumph. It was a tragedy because so many people died, but triumph because so many acts of heroism shown and it brought our nation together. We do a very good job as a nation remembering the acts of heroism and the suffering of the victims of 911 .
ReplyDeleteWhat I know about the events on September 11 are that there were four planes that were hijacked by terrorists, one hit the pentagon, one hit a field in Pennsylvania, and two hit the twin towers in the world trade center. They say that about 3,000 people died and it was one of the worst terror attacks in American history. I believe that this was a triumph because America came together as one and everyone helped to save people that day. Yes because so many people showed acts of heroism and we show rememberance of this tragic event by praying for the families that were impacted by this event.
ReplyDeleteWhat I know about September 11 is that 4 planes driven by terrorists crashed. The crashes resulted in many people dying but also there are great tales about heroes of 9/11. I think that this day is a triumph for the United States. It shows that we are not perfectly safe but it also shows that we are a United nation. I know that the United States does lots to remember the people who died on this day but I also think they could do more. Such as saying all the names of the people who died on the news or a tv program and give special commemorations to the people who saved others, such as The man in the Red bandana.
ReplyDeleteOn September 11th there were four planes that crash landed. There were 2 that hit the world trade center. The 1st one hit then 18 minutes later the 2 plane hit the South Tower. Then at 9:45 the third plane hit the Pentagon. The fuel made an instant fire and caused a small structural collapse. 15 minutes after the pentagon the South Tower collapsed also collapsing four other buildings with it. Then at 10:10 airplane 93 took off after they closed all the airports. The military went to go find it. Somebody saw it but had to go back because he was running out of fuel. While that was happening the passengers knew what was going on and the terrorist already took over the plane the passengers were trying to fight the terrorist and take down the plane and crash landed in Pennsylvania . The military were still on the hunt for it and they never saw the plane again. The plane was so important because the flight was headed to Washington D.C.
ReplyDeleteThere were a lot of police, firefighters, and regular workers that lost there lives on 9 11.
Over the years at St. Joes I have learned a good amount about 9/11, like what happened and the places it happened. There were four planes taken over by terrorists, two of them went and crashed into the Twin Towers in New York and which both ended up collapsing. Another plane crashed into the Pentagon and the other one tried to crash into the White House but it was taken back over by people on the plane and they crashed into the ground.
ReplyDeleteI think it was a day of tragedy and triumph for America. It was tragic because many people died and many buildings were destroyed. It was also a day of triumph because President Bush showed that we shouldn't be scared and that we can recover from what happened. I think we could do better to remember what happened on that day but it is good that we honor the people that died and sacrifices that were made. We could do better by talking about with our families or even praying for the families that lost a loved one.
I know that 9/11 was a terrorist attack where 4 planes crashed. 2 in the World Trade Center. 1 hit the Pentagon, and the last one was supposed to hit the White House but the passengers on board fought back crashing the plane to the ground, and killing everyone on board. Thousands of people died that day.
ReplyDeleteI think this day was both a triumph and tragic. Many people lost their lives but instead of tearing us as a country apart. It brought us together. I think that we do a good job remembering the victims of 9/11. We built a memorial and continue to teach about the day in schools. I think that we should continue to honor those who lost their lives and made a sacrifice to save others. What we could do better is continuing to learn about the day and sharing our knowledge with other people to make sure it is not forgotten.
I know that on 9/11 there was a terrorist attack. 4 planes crash and about 3000 people died from the terrorist acttack of 9/11. 2 of the planes crash in to the world trade center and 1 hit the pentagon and the other on crashed to the ground and kill every one on board. About 3000 people died that day. i thing that this day was a tragedy in the USA. yes the USA has done a relly good go job never forgeting this day
