November 11 is Veteran’s Day in the United States. It is a day to remember the men and women who
have dedicated their lives to protecting the American way of life. Through the years these individuals have put
their safety and well-being in jeopardy in the name of freedom, liberty, and
justice. We owe all former and current
members of our armed services a great deal of gratitude.
Whether or not you agree with the involvement of our
military around the world, the support of our troops is necessary. It is not the soldier who decides where to
go, they take orders. They go where they
are needed and where they are asked to go.
It is a difficult life. In
addition to risking their life, they are often separated from their families
for months on end. They give up the
comforts of Saturday afternoon football games, microwave popcorn, and a nice
fireplace in exchange for tents in the middle of the desert.
It is fitting we dedicate a day during the year to remember
those brave men and women who truly understand what it means to be called to
duty.
What are your thoughts on Veteran’s Day? What ways can you personally honor our
veterans and current military members? Find
a Veteran sometime this week and tell them “Thank You”.

I think that Veteran's day is amazing. It's really important to me that veterans are honored because my grandpa is a veteran, and my great-uncle died in the military. Since I know people who have been in war, it makes it that much more personal for me. The United States needs a military. Our military is one of the reasons that the U.S.A is so well known, so I think that it is great that we have a day dedicated to all of the veterans who have served our country, as well as those who died protecting us all. Every year on veterans day, my family calls up my grandpa and we talk to him and thank him for serving in the military. It makes me feel really good when I hear him talking about his time in the military, because it makes me feel like I'm thanking him even more just by listening. So to all the veterans out there, thank you.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts on Veterans Day are special. Even though I don't have anyone special in my family who fought in a war I still think think it is a honor that we should at the very least say thank you to a Veteran. We should take time to say Thank You because if you stop and think about it they fought for OUR freedom. With out them stepping up with courage we wouldnt have some of the freedoms we have today. Thank You to all who have Served!
ReplyDeleteI think that Veterans Day is very special. I have someone in my family who served in the army and I am proud of them. I always think of them on Veterans Day along with all the other people who fought in wars for America. Veterans Day is a very special day also because we can give part of our time to thank the people who gave their lives for our country and our lives. We can honor Veterans by saying prays for them, taking time out of our day to see them, and to thank the whenever you them. Thank you, Veterans for serving for our country.

ReplyDeleteVeterans Day is, like Lucas said, very special. It is a day to honor the people that bring honor to America. I think is is very widely recognized everywhere. I'm sure we all seen this: a Veteran or a man or woman in uniform, say, "Thanks for your service." I have been told by my great grandpa, a WWII veteran, that it really means a lot by just saying those four easy words. Thank you for you service veterans, freedom isn't free.
ReplyDeleteI think of Veterans Day as a important day to rember the people that are enabling us to live the life we are living right now which is free and peacful most of the time. I can simply pray for them and put them in my thoughts. I can visit a memorial and think about the sacrafices they made to keep this country how it is. I can raise money for disabled war vets and donate it to a foundation that specalises in that. I have war vets in my family and I have never thought about saying thank you and I will especialy with the holieays comming around.
ReplyDeleteVeterans day is a very special day to many. It is a way to remember everybody who has served our country and risked their lives to give us freedom. I am very thankful to all of our veterans who have been so brave. In my family, both of my grandfathers severed in the military. They don't like to talk about it much because they saw some horrifying stuff, but I am very proud to be related to both of them. We can personally honor them in many ways. One of the easiest yet most meaningful ways is to pray for them. We can also donate to a fund like the many that they have at grocery stores. I thank all the veterans who have served and I will thank the people that I see!
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts on veterans Day is that it is a good idea because we can celebrate the sacrifice they did to help us and protecting us in the war. You can honor the veterans by going to them and saying thank you for fighting for our country and fight for our freedom and protecting us from evil or bad people.
ReplyDeleteI think that Veteran's Day is a really touching and special holiday. So many people serve in the military, and they all have families at home who think that no one cares. If you are not from a military family, you will probably never know what it is like to have a relative so far away, and are not sure whether or no they are safe. You see, I don't think that Veteran's Day are for the veterans as much as they are for their families. We need to show that we care and that even though we will not understand what they are going through, we must give them some level of respect. For me, I can donate to organizations who help veterans who are disabled or need jobs. We can also visit those veterans and personally thank them for all of their service to defend this country.
ReplyDeleteI think that Veteran's Day is a prerogative that we get to have because it is a special privilege that we are able to honor the men and women full of honor and valor. It is a beautiful day that allows us to give the thanks to these veterans that they deeply deserve. It is wonderful that we have set aside a day to serve the approbation that these meritorious people have earned. They risk their lives for us not knowing whether or not they are coming back. They see things that no person should have to see, they see the deepest evils that humanity is capable of giving. These men and women should get as much gratitude as possible, and I am happy to be able to honor them. I would also like to give thanks to the families of these militant men and women because they are willing to let their relatives fight not knowing if they will survive and the families show confidence and strength even while watching a relative go through that kind of pain. To show thanks to these veterans I donate (at Albertsons when they give away the Poppies and American flag) and I will pray for both them and the family members that support and care for them.
ReplyDeleteI like Veteran's Day because I know some veterans and I think it is cool that they are getting recognized. We need to honor those who were willing to give up their lives. Some are really young and had a large life ahead of them. They would rather save more lives. They want to get rid of evil in the world even if it means sacrificing their own lives. We should always say thank you and donate to those who are selling poppies on Veteran's Day. They would give up their live so we should thank them. They should be proud.
ReplyDeleteHello
DeleteI think Veteran's Day is great and a good way to recognize those who risked their lives for ours. I don't have any veterans in my family who fight in America, but I still think its a good idea to thank them. We should always say 'thank U' , donate money to them and pray for them so they can see there families again.
ReplyDeleteI think Veteran's Day is an important day to honor the men who have served in the military. It is amazing how many people have served in the military. If any family members have died in families, I hope that they don't get to upset. They should also think of all the hard work these Veterans have put in to their job. I think I can honor veterans by thanking family members I have for serving.
ReplyDeleteVeterans Day is a very special and important day. I think that it is absolutely wonderful that we honor all of the men and women that have fought for us, not just those who have died. But, I also think that we could take more than just one day to honor them. It only makes sense to honor them at all times because they are fighting for us at all times. Some ways that we could honor and gratify our Veterans would be, a Veterans Day (which we have), a Veterans Day Parade (which we also have), and just by simply saying thank you to them when we see them.
ReplyDeleteVeteran's Day is a time where everyone in the nation is thinking of one thing: Our veterans. It is important to remember those who fought, and died for our nation's freedom. As President Reagan said, on Veteran's Day, everyone is praying for those who protected our country, and those who currently do. We can honor our veterans by remembering them, praying for them, and simply putting a smile on their face whenever you have the opportunity. Helping an elderly veteran is also a nice way to pay tribute to them!
ReplyDeleteI think that Veterans Day is important because it makes us think about the people overseas who have given up their lives at home to protect their country. It is also a time to remember the people who died fighting for our freedom. I think that the best way to honor the veterans in Boise is to pray for those overseas and thank any veteran that we see.
ReplyDeleteFor me, Veterans day is a day to honor all of the people that made this country the way it is today. It is very important to me because we are free to do a lot of things that people in other countries cant and because I have a lot of people in my family who fought in wars of served in the military. I don't just honor people in uniform on Veterans day, I do it all the time. I will say something like "thank you for serving our country" and I usually solute them. Veterans day is not just for Veterans, It is for anyone who served or is serving in America. Thank you to all the veterans in america. Why doesn't america knock? BECAUSE FREEDOM RINGS!
ReplyDeleteFunny David.
DeleteI think that veterans day is important b/c it rebinds people about the struggles that people are having over-sea. I think veterans day is important b/c if people didn't recognize how important veterans are we would be a big heaping mess of thinking we know it all and we don't. We would become a country that doesn't appreciate what people are doing to let us have freedom. I personally can thank them for being good people and having kind enough hearts to put there lives on the line so we can be happy and free. Thank you veterans for serving the country and thank you for freeing us every step and every breath you take
ReplyDeleteVeterans day is a great day to thank those that defend this great country I like to call home. One way you can thank a veteran is send an email/letter/text or even talk to a veteran and tell them thank you but you have to mean it. Now that my brother is in the Navy, Veteran's day means more than just a day to say thanks to a veteran. I know he isn't a veteran but I think it is important to thank those who are currently serving or preparing to serve too.
ReplyDeleteI think Veterans Day is really important because it is a huge way of giving our gratitude to those soldiers, we need to thank them because some times they don't come back and if they do sometimes they come back with mental problems. I have family who were in the military so I always give them a call and say thanks for serving. Thank you veterans!
ReplyDeleteI think that Veterans Day is a great thing to have because maybe if we did not have it then we would forget all of the people who have risked, or even given their life to help people who they do not even know. Or we would only remember the ones who have died or have been ingerd. A way that we can honer the veterans is to remember and thank all of them, even if they have not died or gotten ingerd.
ReplyDeleteVeteran's day is a great way to call to mind the people who gave up their lives for us. I have seen flowers sitting beside their graves, and I know that many mourn for their lost family members. I have heard lots of stories of people respecting the people who serve our country. Things like giving their first class seats on a plane to the people. I think that one way we need to honor veterans that died in the war is by respecting what they died for. We need to make sure that they didn't give up their life in vain. Making sure history does not repeat itself is a great way to respect them. Thank you to all the veterans out there!
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts on Veterans Day is that it's very important to remember because there are so many men and women that serve our country in the military. People don't always remember those who have died or are risking their lives for us. These are the people who really secure our freedom. So, I think it's great idea to have a day dedicated to them. The best way I can think to honor veterans is when I see one I can go up to them and say "Thank you for your service."
ReplyDeleteVeterans Day is a wonderful day. In our society today we glorify violence and war, but our veterans have experienced it first hand. The youth in this country has no clue what war really is. War is terrible and it is terrible for those who have been in one. My grandpa was in Nam as a doctor and the stories of war make my blood curdle. Veterans have lived and died in wars fighting for our freedom everyday, not just veterans day, we should remember them. Just as Ronald Reagan said " they gave up two lives, the one they were living and the one they would have lived. And as Ben Carson has also said "Without bravery there is no freedom"
ReplyDeleteI think that Veterans Day is very important. These brave people fight for our freedom. They risk their live for us. They leave their families knowing that they might never see them again. It's always so happy to see your family member come home from the war. It's so important to thank any Veterans you know, because they risked and sacrificed their life for our country and freedom. Thank you Veterans!
ReplyDeleteI think that Veterans day is an amazing idea because it give people a moment to remember the soldiers who have died in war. There are so many men and women who are brave and willing enough to sacrifice their lives for us and our country. I saw this video on Youtube once where it was a welcome back party for a veteran. There was cake and a little 4 or 5 year old got served the cake. Instead of eating the cake he gave it to the veteran and said,"you need this more than I do." Just little deeds like that can make their whole entire day. I think the best way to honor a veteran is to do a good deed for them just as they did for us and our country. THANK YOU VETERANS FOR YOUR SERVICE.
ReplyDeleteI think that Veterans day is an important holiday and should b respected. I would want to be honored if i fought for our country. I think you can personally honor our veterans by simply saying thank you, I think even just having a conversation with them would be good. I like how the NFL honors our veterans by wearing camp gear also.
ReplyDeleteI think Veteran'd Day is great. It's a chance to help our Veterans a little more every year. They risk their life for me. The Veterans sacrifice themselves for all the people in the USA. I personally honor our Veterans by going to mass and talk about family members who are Veterans. I donate money and make cards for not only Veterans but for active militants.
ReplyDeleteI think that Veteran's Day is one of the most important days because we are honoring those who have died in battle for you and everyone living in America. I honor our Veterans by donating money and say thank you.
ReplyDeleteVeterans Day is a great day to honor those who have valently fought for our country. To honor those who have bravley gone out in battle knowing they could possibly die today. It is a very honored and treasured day for many Americans, including me. You could pray for all the veterans, thank them on the streets or where ever they may be. It is a simple and easy task to help ans be kind. Why not with them? If you run into one at the grocery store, help them bring their groceries to the car (with a parent). Maybe even a warm hug, it could make their day just as much as yours.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts on Veterans Day are very simple, I think that it is a day when we need to take pride in our military forces and help those that have helped our military forces grow and develop. People that have fought for my freedom and others are risking their life everyday to ensure our safety and sometimes we don't even care. On Veterans Day we remember to care. Things that you could do for the Veterans that are risking their life is to pray for their safety and provide their families with comfort and love.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts on Veterans Day are like any other American citizen, which are that these brave, loyal, hardworking people deserve a day of honor, a day that they can be recognized , looked up to, and celebrate their act of justice, kindness, and peace towards our country. Ways that we can thank our heroes is by going to a Veterans Day parade, or wear a poppy on your shirt, or simply say hi, thank them, and compliment them for their righteousness.
ReplyDeleteI think that Veteran's Day is one of the best holidays of the year. It shows how thankful we are for their service because, truly, America wouldn't be what we are today without our armed forces. Anybody, even people who don't have Veterans in their families, can thank a friend or neighbor who has or lost a Veteran. You can ask your family at the dinner table if you have any in your family because you might learn something new.
ReplyDeleteI feel that Veteran's Day is one of the most under-celebrated and under-appreciated holidays that there is. It tells us to remember the thousands of families that have lost months of there family member's lives with them and then, their lives completely. The Veterans who have died in battle fight for the freedoms that we believe that we will always have. And the Veterans who didn't die in battle now struggle to live life normally, as many suffer from PTSD. I feel that the very least that we can do is say "Thank You" and wholeheartedly mean it. We could also show our support by wearing a shirt that promotes thanking veterans or even raise money for veterans struggling through their lives today. So to all the Veterans out there, Thank You So Much!!!
ReplyDeleteI think that Veteran's Day is a great holiday. I feel like we don't appreciate it as much as other holidays though. For every other holiday we do something in art to watch a video on it. Except for this one. We honor those who have fought or are fighting for our safety every day. We can raise money for them, or do a donation drive. One this is for certain, we need to pay our respects. Sometimes even a single thank you can mean the world to someone.
ReplyDeleteVeterans day is a great day to think about all the people who gave there lives for our country. Living or not they were willing to die for us and we need to thank them. Veterans don't get the respect they deserve sometimes when people make fun of them for have lost a limb or something. We need to think about it more. If we had done what they did we would think a lot differently about the world. We can honor them by just thanking them for all they have done for us and by spending time with them they feel grateful. Veterans served our country in a way many people don't do.
ReplyDeleteI think Veterans Day is great because it honors those who fought and served in battle and risked their lives for the safety of us. My dad has served 25 years in the Army and still does. I can give him an appreciation gift for serving as a token of my gratitude.
ReplyDeleteI pesonally think that Veteran's Day becasue it is a day that we celebrate all who have sacrificed thier lives to save us and our country. It is also a day where we remember those who have served int eh U.S and those who are at battle. I also love Veteran's Day becasue I have many syblings in my family that are Veteran's and I alsways than them for thier strength and bravery. My dad has served in the Air Force for about 22 years and we celebrate Veteran's Day very special. My Great Great Uncle faught in World war 2 and he is still alive today. Although he does not live close to me i still think of him all thw time and I am thankful that he is still alive and is healthy. He is still growing older and he will soon die. When he does die I know that we will all remember him as our hero becasue of what he did for us and the U.S. I will always appreciate what he did for us. When he dies i am sure that he will go to heaven becasue he helped other soliers that were near him during World War 2. He will not forget the gruesome thins that he saw but he does put those memeries aside and think of the posative side. To all of those Veteran's out in the world i would like to say a big thanks to all becasue of the things you had to be put through. Thank you also for the voluteers becasue i know how much you wanted to chnge the world do THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I truly mean this so take it in.
ReplyDeleteI love veterans day sooooooo much because it allows us to say thank you to all those that have served and put their lives in jeopardy.I could not imagine what these people have gone though just for our freedom and liberty. I personally don't know anyone that has died for our country, but i do know someone that it serving right now. My cousin Frankie is in the military and has just joined. I cannot wait for him to come home.THANK YOU to all those that are giving their lives for my freedom.
ReplyDeleteAs for my thoughts about Veteran's Day, the only thing that pops into my head is, "Thank you." I cannot possibly imagine the things that you veterans saw, and the pain that you felt for your future generations, which is me. There's no words to describe what you have built on your own back that we still rely and stand on. In terms of showing respect to to those of you who have put your lives on the line for us, there is really no compare. The best gesture you could bring forward is to go and serve for the country just as the veterans did.
ReplyDeleteSome of my thoughts on Veteran's Day are how grateful I am for the veterans that have bravely served or even died for our country. I always remember that no matter what the circumstances are, there is always a brave person willing to fight. And that I think is great. Some countries dont have nearly as many volunteer soldiers like the U.S. does. I think a way to thank the soldiers could be just by saying hi and thank you at some point to any of them. Just letting them know that they are appreciated is always good.
