Graduation is next Friday.
After that, you are the new eighth graders. While you may not realize it, being the most
senior class in the school carries a tremendous responsibility. Every class, from the 7th to the
kindergarten is looking to you for direction and as role models.
Even though the school has been around for over a hundred
years, the culture and personality of the school is determined first and
foremost by the students. And the group
of students with the greatest amount of influence is the eighth grade. You will set the tone for the entire
2012-2013 school year.
I believe in the idea that it is each of our responsibility
to make whatever it is we start better when we leave. That should apply to everything we do in life. If you happen to agree with me, your
responsibilities as an eighth grader just increase. You have made the school, teachers, and
parents proud for the previous 8 years, so I know you are up to the
challenge.
It is also time to have fun.
Your eighth grade year should be your best. You have reached the top of the pile and it
is time to enjoy the view. You have
worked hard to get here and should enjoy the privileges of being the most
senior class.
What are you looking forward to the most as you enter eighth
grade? What tone do you want to set for
the rest of the school and how will you do it?
What will you do, both individually and as a class, during the next year
to make St. Joe’s better?

Aaron- I am very excited to be able to be the top of the food chain even though with it comes many responsibilities. i am going to set a cool tone for the 2012-2013 years by being a good example for the rest of the school. i will show the st joes school that school can be fun while at the same time be a cool learning environment
ReplyDeleteAmaia- The thing I'm looking forward to the most next year is that as eighth grade we get special privileges such as year book, class president, and other stuff. I thought the cooler classes of eighth grades were always the ones who were nice to the younger kids, which I want to be. Individually I will do my best to have fun and make the other classes have fun. I think as a class we should be the class that wasn't so intimidating for the little kids to talk to. I think the small stuff like that will provide the best eighth grade experience for all of us.
ReplyDeleteJacob- I am really looking forward to our eighth grade year. I am especially looking forward to being the people to look up to. I am really excited for American History. You might think that i am saying this just to please Mr. Grant but ever since i read The Red Badge of Courage I have been very interested in American History. I want to set the tone for the rest of the school by acting the way we should act as Catholic children and be one o the best eighth grade classes tocome through St Joes. I want to leave our mark. i think that we should make our school a fun place to be ands a class by doing fun things and having good relationships with the teachers. I think and probably am going to run for President next yer and i hope that if i get elected i will help make our school an awesome place. i hope to get out in the community a lot and do lots of community service both in and out of school.
ReplyDeleteMatea- i am excited for everything next year. There is so many things that we can do. I am glad to be the oldest ones in the school. I am also excited to go on retreats and be a crossguard. I want to leave something behind a apecial memory for everyone. So we leave a mark. I want to be remebered as a good, stronge, and a nice caring class. Also to be a funny class. I want to have a tone of being a good role model for the younger kids that look up to us. To make the school better for next year when we will be the BIG kids. I want to our school be known for their fun things that we do, but also to show that we are smart too. Personally, i want to do more community serice. It will be a good example for the younger kids. I also want to be on ssstudent counsil, hopfully presidant. I am also a little sad to be leaving St Joes.
DeleteNatalia- im looking forward to being the oldest class and the ones everyone looks up to. Im also looking forward to getting to do different things than the other classes. The tone our class should set is one where the little kids look up to us and everyone remembers us. As a class we should do more community service so the school can require more hours.
ReplyDeletetrekster ^_^ (nissa)- I won't be here next year :-( but I am looking forward to a new school with a similar set up to St. Joe's, K-8, but is smaller, 1 class/grd. and a new city, etc. I will really miss it here, but I hope that everyone achieves what they're looking forward to etc. I hope that I am memorable enough that the new kids next year know about me and my total awesomeness (jking ^_^) but seriously, I'd like to be remembered!!!!

ReplyDeletei am mostly looking forward to all the field trips that have been building up all this year lol.i really want to be the person that is friends with everyone by just trying to be nice to everyone but that will be pretty hard on my part.I really hope that the class can be the class that is rememberd with the teachers as the funny class that would always make the teachers laugh and I hope to have a fairly good relationship with all of the teachers.
ths was cody i jst forgot to put my name on it
DeleteBelle-...I really don't like talking about eight. Grade . And since about 5 th grade I have been dreading it. For the some of you that knew this about me I'm just going to tell you one more time. I wish that we could stay at st Joe's forever. I do want to leave our mark as a class that really loved trusted and cared for eachother ....I know that once we become eighth graders everyone kind of relizes. What kind of class you are I just want to let you all know that I love you guys and that we will show everyone what we are made of .... you guys in our class some I have known as long as I have remembered thank you for everything and I'm glad I grew up with you guys :) and help the seventh and sixth graders with middle school
ReplyDeleteDillon- At the end of the year I'm looking forward to getting out of school a week early and graduation. Going into eighth grade what I'm looking forward to is being the biggest kid in the school and we get more privileges. The tone that I want to set in is energetic, fun, and kind. I will do this by reaching out to those in the younger grades, being fun, and by being kind to everyone in the school. I will try to be a leader by being on the student council and a C.O.P. As a class I don't know what we are doing but I'm sure that we will do a lot.
ReplyDeleteniko...8th grade is going to be a fun year with lots of privleges that we have not to abuse. we getto sit outside at lunch and we get to have all of the little kids look up to us.i think the teaCHERS WILL HAVE A LITTLE MORE RESPECT FOR US AND IM REALLY EXCITED TO HAVE MR YANCI AS A HOMEROOM. ReplyDeleteStephanie- I'm mostly looking forward to the extra privilages we get next year such as the outside eating space, the year book, and Washington D. C. which I hope every one wants to do. I want us to make a mark at this school today. I think we are a greet class and I hope we do well in the top position. I think individually and as a class we will try and be good examples for the younger kids. I can't wait intill graduation!!!

Jacqueline-well, there is so much I am looking forward to. One of them is being the big kid finally. Beginning the group that all the other kids look up to. I want to be that amazing student that will be well round at put together. Hopefully I will grow more within the summer months. I want the younger kids to fell like this is where they belong. THis is where they want to be. I want to be that one eight grade girl that a;; the little kids know and be able to be a positive role model for them. I want to set a fun tone for the next year. I want everything to be perfect and our class to become very close. I still have yet to figure out how this will be done.
ReplyDeleteKatie H.- I'm looking forward to being a big kid in the school. i think it would be great if our whole class set a good example for the younger kids so they have good role models. i hope as a student i can achieve my best. I really hope that our class gets really close and that we all have our best year ever at St. Joes. i also hope that our class is one that is remembered as the BEST class St Joes has ever seen!!! I'm going to be sad to leave next year.
ReplyDeleteRyan-What Im most looking for is would probably be the top dog of the school. If there would be a year that i would have to work and act the best i could would be next year.Mainly because everybody is looking up to you. If someone in a higher grade doses something good, then most likely then the younger grades will follow. I think if everybody dose there part in helping in any way and doing ther own best i think our class will do very well and will be remember.
ReplyDeleteEmma- As everyone should know, I am a new student this year and I am so glad to be a part of the next eighth grade class. I remember the first day of school from beginning to end and how nervous I was!! Everyone in my new class as well as all of the teachers made it so much easier than I would have thought! Now that I am used to St. Joes I can just say that I am so blessed to be a part of a class as enjoyable as all of you guys! I want to thank everyone for making this year so much fun and I am so glad I made many new great friends! I am looking forward for every minute of next year and I am really excited to be the new "big kids" :) I have always wondered what that would feel like. Graduation is going to be happy and sad. Sad because we will have to leave a school that is filled with amazing people and a lot of memories but happy because it will be a memory everyone will remember and treasure for the rest of our lives.

ReplyDeleteI am really excited for the eighth grade. It'll be fun to be the top dog of the school. I know all the younger kids will be looking up to us and we have to make a good impression. I want to do this by giving back to the school. We could have bake sales or free dress days to get new books for the library or get new playground equipment. If we do these things we could make St Joe's a better place for every one. Doing this would make our last impression strong and that's what I want people to remember me and our class by.
Daniel Sabalalala- I am looking forward to being the oldest and best kids in the school.. it is going to be really fun next year with all the special things we get to do that the other grades don't. it is going to be really sad and weird graduating because i have been at st joes for 9 years and it will be different but fun at whatever high school i choose. next year i want to set a good tone by trying to be president or vice president at our school. i also want all the teachers to remember me in a good way. next year to make st joes better i will by being the best class ever at st joes. i will try to get in the children of peace (COP) thingy next year. i can't wait for next year and will also be a role model to the little kids. ( ' _ ' ) *=* (^ + ^)
ReplyDeleteRobert_Faricy-looking forward to getting out of here and moving on to bigger challenges at Bishop Kelly. Be glad that your almost done and finished, by setting an example for the younger kids by being nice to our teachers.
ReplyDeleteKordell
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to be roles models of the younger kids. It would also be really cool being the top dog in the school. The tone is that little kids are looking up to you. After 8th grade you move onto bigger challenges at BK (Bishop Kelly) like being at the bottom and working up to a Senoir. I want teachers to remember me (but i dought it). Next year the new 8th grade boys will win hallisey. I cant wait for next year.
Sena- I am really excited for our next school year but it is a little scary. I am looking forward to the fun field trips. Also I think it will be very cool to be the oldest, most responsible, and the most trustworthy. I want to set a good tone. I want our class to set a good example for the 7th grade. We will start off the school year well and have fun!!!! I will make sure nothing bad is going on between the classes. Also we will have fun and be sensible at the same time!
ReplyDeleteAzi the smiliest in the class- I'm looking forward to being the top dog in the school. I think the whole school will know me and remmember me by my smile and my hair becouse not many people in Amarica has my strawberry blonde hair. I might try to grow it out to my knees and donat 12 inches of it. Next year the girls will bet the boys in hallissey. When I go to Bishop Kelly I will have to have my dad as a teacher.
ReplyDeleteAzi's .p.s.-Oh and maby the class can be queiter in class and do more Field trips
ReplyDeleteCaleigh- I'm really looking forward to being top of the school. Also the feild trips!!! haha! Als the new elective thingys which should be really fun and intresting. I want to set the tone that you might complain about school but it is a real privilege and doing that by trying to take more feild trips to like the senctuary house. I think that as a class we might lokke to doing more fundraisers and charity.
ReplyDeleteGabi- i am really excited that next year we will be the oldest in the school but im also really sad because it will be our last year together as a class. I want our class to be rembered at st joes and i know i will never forget you guys. Our class has been togethernsince day 1 and it has stayed that way and i love it. I think next year since we will be the oldests in the school that we need to set a good example because the little kids do look up to us. I think next year will be a great for our class and we will be rembered at st joes we are an amazing class i love you guys :)
ReplyDeleteAlice- Next year is going to be awesome!!!! We have great teachers, great class mates, and a great school in general. I'm looking for ward to TAKING MORE FIELD TRIPS and getting to be the kids every one looks to for guidance. I'm looking forward to the Grant girls coming, that's a BIG plus!!! :b The tone next year is gonna be laid back but still...schoolish(?)I'm going to be sunny and nice and justbe really great to be around. I think I might run for vice pres next year and help contribute to the school, I'll do a BUNCH of community service in and out of school. And just generally help the well being of the staff and school.
ReplyDeletePeter-Next year we will be at the top of the school. We will be oldest, smartes,t and best looking class ever. The rest of the school will look up to us so it is a very big resonsibility.I am going to make the tone sporty and get everyone in the whole school to play sports and get outside and be athletic. I also what kids to follow the school rules still and be all around good students. We will do bake sales and fun runs to raise money for school funds and the parish.we will also have a big graduation water gun fight at the end of the year party. It will be sooooooo fun. Thats what i am looking forward to in 8th grade.
ReplyDeleteCatie-I am mostly looking forward to Graduation in 8th grade because I can't wait to go to Bishop Kelly. I want to make the tone outgoing and fun because that's what makes the school year interesting, the funny and outgoing people. We will do a ton of fundraisers to raise money for the school and make sure the next year's seventh graders aren't annoying and mean.
